At the Taj Mahal in northern India, a group of young men came up to us and asked if they could take our picture. Surrounded by one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and women wrapped in rainbows of saris, how could my husband and I, dressed in our suddenly inelegant travel clothing, be worth photographing? But the men thought we were the most interesting sight around. It was such a reminder that we were in another world–a feeling that I continued to have throughout our travels in Rajasthan, perhaps the most exotic place in the world.
