In addition to being Photo Editor at WT, I’ve been fortunate to have had the chance to photograph many of our trips. I’ve seen amazing landscapes and found warm hospitality in even the most remote places, and my experience on our Peru Explorer adventure was no exception.

The mountains and valleys of Peru are rugged, their contours making for great plays of light and shadow. And the people of Peru wear incredible, vibrant colors—and are wonderfully open to travelers. We stayed at the Sanctuary Lodge, right outside the gates of Machu Picchu, which was ideal for photographing the ruins at first light. Being able to wander the ruins before the crowds arrived was incredible—I felt as if I were the first one to discover it. Our group had amazing experiences across Peru, from watching condors at Colca Canyon to Lake Titicaca and exploring the sites of the Sacred Valley. Our fearless Trip Leader Diana Hildago, was absolutely brilliant in bringing Peru’s history and culture to life.
