Ama Dablam dominated the skyline for several days during our 9-day Wilderness Travel trek. Though it lacks the global name recognition of its taller neighbor, it’s an even more inspiring site than Everest. We reached Ama Dablam base camp at 15,500’ just as an unexpected snowstorm hit. Our guide had arranged for us to have lunch in the comfort of a German summit expedition’s tent, and then we descended to our next village leaving the climbers and yaks to do their work.
